“Gazing at the mirror’s reflection, human meat’s allure,
Carving a path in skin’s miseration, that seeping scarlet bloom.”
Nightborn explains, “‘Impenitent Ones’ is about falling in love with one’s own skin and flesh. It explores themes of autophagia and cannibalism, where a person becomes increasingly obsessed with their own skin, finds pleasure in carving themselves, and eventually starts consuming their own flesh. The demo title of this track was ‘Zambian Meat,’ based on an infamous true story about a cannibalism website where users were categorized as chefs and slaves. People actually volunteered to be killed and eaten. The track also draws heavy inspiration from a cinematic masterpiece from 2002: Dans Ma Peau (In My Skin), a French film about a woman practicing autophagia.”
For the recording of “Impenitent Ones” and the EP, Arda used an extremely rare Ken Lawrence Explorer guitar, the only one of its kind in the world. This guitar played a crucial role in the creation of this EP, which features four brand-new songs. The songs are unrelenting, speed-driven thrash anthems. The EP includes all music and lyrics written by Arda in classic Nightborn fashion, with Simon McKay (The Agonist) performing the drum parts, while Hubert Wiecek (Ex-Decapitated, Dieth, Banisher) handles the bass parts. The EP was mixed and mastered at Chris Donaldson’s studio in Montreal, CA, by Remi LeGresley (Grizzly Productions).
Nightborn will release one song from the EP each week, and the entire EP will be available on digital platforms on November 19th.

IMPENITENT ONES
In thy skin, a fragile trail
Touched by knife’s caress
Delightful lure, a soul untamed
With each cut, scars confess
All alone, a lust for taste
The incisions, in pain’s embrace
Gazing at the mirror’s reflection
Awakens a hunger pure
Succumbing to the feast of consumption
Worships own allure
Soft and pale, lies mutilated
Obscene affair, so sweet
Body’s a canvas, blood’s stimulating
Desire for his own meat
Gazing at the mirror’s reflection
Awakens a hunger pure
Succumbing to macabre pleasures
Human meat’s allure
In abstract reverie
Forbidden self discovery
A search for self in fleshly guise
In red-soaked truth
Where the answer lies
As boundaries slip away
Mirror cracked, reflections bleed
A shadow of himself
A story of love, of flesh and doom
Horror in a self-made tomb
Adulating the rites of perfection
Brittle beneath the moon
Carving a path in skin’s miseration
That seeping scarlet bloom
About NIGHTBORN:
NIGTHBORN is a thrash metal band formed in 2012 by Arda K. that initially started as a one-man project – though some of the compositions go even further back. Nightborn focused on producing melodic thrash metal in the veins of old school sound blended with the style of the revival scene.
Nightborn’s first album Skyeless was released in 2017 and was mastered in Fascination Street Studios, Sweden which previously worked with artists such as Kreator, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity and Sepultura. The album cover art was done by Eliran Kantor and singles artwork were by Maximillan Mende.
Nightborn’s lyrics often deal with politically anti-system sentiments, the allure of dying and death, somberness, desperation, hatred and rage, serial killers and murder, the dark nature of human mind, nightmares and the night itself.
The band’s second album, Unhuman was released in 2022 and was also mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studios. The album consists of fast, unrelenting thrash metal for the fans of great bands such as Slayer, Testament, Kreator, Sepultura and Exodus with additional dark melodic elements. Just like Skyless, all lyrics and music were arranged, written, composed and performed by the frontman Arda K. All the drum parts on Unhuman were performed by Krimh of Septic Flesh, Decapitated and Behemoth. Additional guitar edits were carried out by Gokalp Ergen, the vocalist of Mezarkabul.
After the 2022 release of Unhuman, Nightborn started to prepare for live performances and touring by expanding the band’s line-up with veteran metal musicians, all of whom have been active in the metal scene since early 2000’s.
Metal Injection premiered the video for “Grave Madness” from the Unhuman album on June 6th, writing “Nightborn’s new video for “Grave Madness” is pretty gross…the song also shreds”. The video was directed by infamous dark performance artist Louis Fleischauer. VIEWER WARNING! Discretion is advised as the video features REAL blood, skulls, bones, body modification, and actual hanging by hooks.
