February 9-11, 2018 | All Ages | Sterling Heights, MI @ Wyndham Garden

It’s certainly no secret that top-charting rappers TWIZTID cross heavily into the worlds of horror, animation, comics, weed and gaming culture – the duo have released action figures, comic books, cosplay videos, sodas and more. As originally announced earlier this year, TWIZTID are taking their fandom to the next level – launching their very own Astronomicon pop culture convention in the Metro Detroit area!

Astronomicon is an all ages event promising fun for everyone, taking place on February 9-11, 2018 at the Wyndham Garden in Sterling Heights, MI (34911 Van Dyke). Each day will include a variety of activities, including cosplay and tattoo contests, a free play game room and tournaments, Q&A panels, a scavenger hunt, insane asylum photo opps – and best of all, the opportunity to have photos taken with special guest celebrities!

“As fans who literally and physically grew up amongst the convention circuit, it has been a long-time dream to put on a convention of our own for quite some time,” says TWIZTID.“Where other cons cater to one specific thing, we want ours to blanket everything in the pop culture bubble, from comics to sci-fi on back to gaming and horror. There is absolutely something for everyone!”

TWIZTID and Astronomicon are “thrilled” to announce that renowned horror icon Sid Haig will officially take part in photo opps in makeup as Captain Spaulding of House of 1000’s Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects on Saturday. In addition, Haig will actually officiate a wedding onsite as Captain Spaulding! Sig Haig has been acting for over five decades – appearing in over 140 films and 350 television episodes. His most notable acting roles include stints on Batman, Mission: Impossible, The Dukes of Hazzrd, A-Team, Get Smart and many more groundbreaking television shows. Film-wise, Haig has appeared in pictures ranging from 1971 James Bond favorite Diamonds are Forever to Foxy Brown, and is most recently recognized for his work in Rob Zombie’s films House of 1000’s Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects.

Haig says, “I can’t say enough about TWIZTID. Not only are they talented, they have their feet on the ground and are just fun to hang out with! I’ve been at conventions with them – they didn’t have the makeup on so they were just there as spectators, and I could sense their passion at the event. I’m glad that this time, we’ll all be together for their very first convention of their own! First cons are always tough, but Astronomicon is shaping up to be a huge success. Looking forward to see everyone there!”

TWIZTID and Astronomicon are also pleased to announce that professional wrestling champion Charles Wright, a.k.a. The Godfather/Papa Shango, will join the fun on Friday and Saturday, appearing in costume for professional photo ops with fans. Charles Wright boasts a successful wrestling career, having secured championships during his time with multiple companies, including World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE). Wright saw many successes during his stint as voodoo character Papa Shango – his biggest moment marked at WrestleMania VIII with fellow wrestling greats Hulk Hogan, Sid Justice and The Ultimate Warrior. In 1998, Wright shifted to The Godfather character, eventually defeating Goldust for the Intercontinental Championship in 1999. The following year, The Godfather took the World Tag Team Championship title with Bull Buchanan. In 2016, Wright received top honors as a new WWE Hall of Fame inductee.

Previously announced special guests who will appear for photo opps at Astronomicon include professional wrestling champion and WWE on-air personality Booker T, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, House of 1000’s Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects actor Bill Moseley, Friday the 13th film franchise legend Kane Hodder, X-Men and Rob Zombie’s Halloween actor Tyler Mane, Syfy’s Monster Man Roy Knyrim, Tate Steinsiek of Syfy’s FaceOff, Comic Book Men’s Ming Chen, comic book writer Dirk Manning, and the Angry Video Game Nerd. Appearances will also be made by The Game Chasers, Mr. Creepypasta, Pixel Dan, and tattoo model Caroline, who is scheduled as a guest judge of the tattoo contest. Of course, fans can also expect appearances by TWIZTID and Majik Ninja Entertainment artists Blaze Ya Dead Homie and G-Mo Skee, who will host a Super Smash Bros. tournament in the gaming area.

Many more special guest stars from the music, wrestling, film and entertainment worlds are scheduled to be announced as Astronomicon approaches, so stay tuned!

TWIZTID will be signing very special Astronomicon variants of their brand new comic book, entitled Twiztid: Haunted High-Ons, written by the demented duo themselves and famed comic writer/Astronomicon guest Dirk Manning, and featuring illustration by renowned Italian artists Marianna Pescosta and Alessandro de Fornasari. The comic book is published by Source Point Press. In Twiztid: Haunted High-Ons, our duo have carved out a comfortable side-gig for themselves as fake ghost hunters… but what happens when a routine house call yields not only a ghost, but a killer demon to boot? Hijinks and horror, of course! Original variant comics are available to order here via Source Point Press.

TWIZTID are currently touring the states on their 20th anniversary Mostasteless tour – performing their very first album in full each night and flanked by special guests Moonshine Bandits, Blaze Ya Dead Homie (who will perform his self-titled EP in full each night), Whitney Peyton and Andrew W Boss.
