New Album, Gravity, Out Now | Order Here
If you haven’t listened to Montreal, QC’s ERA9 by now, you are missing out one of the most promising, fresh new rock acts of 2017. Combining dynamic, hooky vocals with heavy rock/metal guitars mixed with addictive hip-hop and EDM beats, ERA9have created an original sonic blend that never “tries too hard” or becomes predictable, as many attempted rock crossover projects have. ERA9 oozes natural songwriting and performance talent, as made evident with each honest, anthem-worthy hit track they’ve released.
ERA9‘s latest single “Hero” – released earlier this year via an impressive, entirely iPhone-shot music video – puts such evidence on grand display. Today, the band is following up with the release of an acoustic version of the track, which can be heard via another music video posted now at Alternative Press. The acoustic rendition of the track gives the song a more somber feel, which is what the band hoped to convey with the arrangement.
While ERA9 didn’t originally intend for the track to spur discussion about the distressing state of society, current political struggles, mounting natural disasters and other tough topics, they feel the track takes on a whole new meaning now. Laurie Normandin of ERA9 tells AP,“As 2017 progressed into a year of one disaster after another, a new meaning of the song began to emerge. It seemed like every week our hearts were breaking over something even more devastating than the one before it… hopefully this song can be a beacon of hope for those who are lost.”
