RIYL: A DAY TO REMEMBER, OF MICE & MEN, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, and More

In a genre full of what seems like endless repetition and cookie cutter copy-cats, most modern metalcore bands fail when attempting to combine heavy style with genuinely catchy and well-written music.

Enter Santa Cruz, CA’s REQUIEM, who have successfully squashed the listening public’s generalized expectations by putting out music so haunting that it not only caught the attention of countless new fans, but also major label imprint Cleopatra Records (E1). The label will release the band’s brand new album, The Unexplainable Truth, on October 28, 2014! A pre-order for digital and physical copies will be unleashed soon!

Don’t confuse REQUIEM as a group of newcomers, either. The band features vocalist Steve Juliano of former Epitaph Records powerhouse band I Am Ghost, Daisy Rock Guitars-sponsored guitarist/vocalist Jacklyn Paulette, and Pearl-sponsored drummer Rick Siegfried, amongst their full line-up.

Revolver Magazine gives us a taste of The Unexplainable Truth today with the new track ‘Where the Hell Did the Romance Go?’ – listen here: http://www.revolvermag.com/news/requiem-premiere-new-song-where-the-hell-did-the-romance-go.html

“‘Where the Hell Did the Romance Go’ is a classic example of the feelings you encounter during the ending stages of your romantic relationship with someone, which we can all relate to pretty well,” offers vocalist/guitarist Jacklyn Paulette.

The Unexplainable Truth combines dark melodies and soaring orchestras with vicious metal guitars and bass. Recorded by the band themselves in Santa Cruz, CA at Sonic Shark Studios, the album was also mixed by JD Keiser at Laughing Lion Productions, and mastered by Nakasaki Sound. Stepping forward as visionaries while most bands are still trying to catch up in the scene,REQUIEM are set to unleash and album that will change your views of what “metalcore” should be.

Vocalist Steve Juliano adds, “This is the most personal album I have ever written, and it helped me regain enough strength and passion to dwell back into music. I had given up, to be quite honest, but I had one last thing to say to everyone before saying goodbye. This was originally going to be my last hurrah, but after letting everything out, it pulled me back in. Music saved my life once again.”
