NIGHT’S EDGE “If You Loved Me”

Three albums, an EP, and more shows than the band can keep track of – Night’s Edge has been grinding since 2018, sharpening their craft on the stage and in the studio and steadily building a following online and in the crowd, whilst developing a sound that is inimitably their own.

And now it is time for their newest album The World that Never Was to step out from its cradle. Lead single “If You Loved Me” is a driving, hard rocker with 80’s atmosphere, gothic excess, and bitter, bitter lyrics detailing a rollercoaster relationship. This track is just a taste of the songwriting prowess and incisive lyrics that the album is built upon.

Night’s Edge says “All three of us love this song. It has everything – a massive chorus, a scorching guitar solo, and some unexpectedly creepy, heavy sections. A LOT of ground gets covered in under four minutes. The lyrics are a scathing reflection on manipulation with changing perspectives between the verses and choruses. Above all, the song is inimitably Night’s Edge. This is a sound that you can only get at one place – here, with us.”

Haus Magazine (DMV) got a sneak-peek of the new music and reviewed “If You Loved Me” in a reel posted on March 10th highlighting the song’s “guitar playing, especially the solo in the middle” while describing the song overall as “authentically metal influenced” with “interesting quick melodic changes that keep the song interesting.”

Check out the video for “If You Loved Me”, filmed by Carter Louthian. Night’s Edge kept it simple but dressed to the nines for this one. Soaked in an ominous red light befitting of the song’s vitriol, the band rolls through “If You Loved Me” with zeal inside of a freezing warehouse. Keep your eyes out for their breath in the air.

“If You Loved Me” is the first of four planned pre-release singles from Night’s Edge’s upcoming album The World That Never Was. The next single, “Someone to Stay” will be released in early May, so keep your eyes out and definitely be ready for the full album drop, which is planned for mid-August. The band will be supporting these releases with planned shows throughout MD, NY, VA, and PA including an opening slot for Visions of Atlantis at the Ottobar in Baltimore and the band’s first trip up to the Norfolk area where their songs have already been featured on local rock radio station 96x.

Night’s Edge believes in creating music that has a purpose. There is no copy-catting of other artists, or following trends here – even the band’s select cover tunes turn the originals on their heads. This is music that you can’t get anywhere else, that has something to say, that is unique and exciting while still feeling familiar – like a friend finishing your sentences when you run out of words.

Despite falling somewhere under the umbrella of Alternative Metal, Night’s Edge‘s sound is hard to pin down. Incorporating influences from gothic metal, progressive rock, and nu metal, the band’s music is equal parts heavy and poppy, soaked in synthesizers and drama. Lyrics breach topics including isolation, dissociation, and the romantic, approaching themes common to the human experience from a cerebral angle that complements the band’s emotionally evocative music.

Night’s Edge has performed throughout the Mid-Atlantic from Richmond to Boston at dive bars, festivals, concert halls, record stores, and convention centers – the band has grinded everywhere. As Baltimore natives, Night’s Edge has thrilled the stage at venues including Soundstage, Angels Rock Bar, and the Ottobar, and has had multiple festival appearances including Shadow Woods, Fang Around, and Party Like its 793. This is a band that gets on stage and rocks. There is no standing around, there is no staring at the floor. This is a f*cking rock band, and the Night’s Edge live show leaves no doubt about that.
