DRKHRT Tattoo, headed up by noted tattoo artist Matt Hildebrand, has teamed up with MD WipeOutz for an Instagram takeover to celebrate the grand opening of its new Seattle location on Tuesday, January 25.
“We are excited to official get the word out about DRKHRT Tattoo,” Hildebrand says. “Opening a physical shop during the COVID-era is challenging on many levels. Unfortunately, it has also prevented us from doing an official grand opening party but working with WipeOutz on this Instagram takeover is an amazing alternative that will allow us to reach tattoo enthusiasts far beyond our local area.”
In addition to a virtual tour of the studio, Hildebrand will walk viewers through the creation of a new tattoo with live updates, a step-by-step explanation of his process and professional tips. Hildebrand will also answer viewer questions throughout the day. Enter to win a $500 gift certificate toward a session with Matt Hildebrand by liking, commenting and sharing posts on the DRKHRT Instagram page the day of the takeover. DRKHRT Tattoo, located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, officially opened its doors on September 1 with a soft grand opening. Hildebrand specializes in B&G/color realism and won various awards at conventions, including first place in large B&G at the 2015 Vancouver Tattoo Convention and third place large B&G at the 2019 Portland Tattoo Convention.
DRKHRTrecently announced that Los Angeles-basedKyle Devries, son of MD Tattoo Studio’sMike Devries, will also be a frequent guest at the studio.
“Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to art and hoped to make some sort of career in it, although I never knew exactly how that would be,”says Hildebrand.“After going to college briefly for graphic design, I knew that route was not for me and began searching for an apprenticeship in tattooing, as I was always fascinated by the art and industry since I was young. To open my own studio is a dream come true.”
