In a collective band quote, the group states, “The release of this record has been a long time coming. We’ve changed as musicians and as people, and we were eager to see what it would sound like when we moved back toward our musical roots. The result is far superior to anything we thought we could achieve. We’ve changed a lot since we released our last album in 2011, and Delta, which mathematically means change, has helped remind us of that – even after 14 years of making music together, it really IS all about the music.”

See what the press is saying about DELTA and RUBIKON:
“[“Pretty Pretty”] has gigantic, burly riffs that are both stony and dark, a hard-driving beat that’ll make you wish you were cranking through the southern California desert, and soulful, gruff vocals that come from a place deep within. There’s even a bit of Southern sludge when the band slows things down into the song’s coda; guitarist Dave Raymond name-checks Down and Corrosion of Conformity as influences, and you can definitely hear that in this track.” – MetalSucks.net
“Rubikon is… like a big swig of Queens of the Stone Age with a Led Zeppelin back chaser. If limited to genre descriptions and band names, however, does not do them justice.” – New Noise Magazine
“‘Vipers’ lurches out at you like a modern take on Skynyrd; whilst ‘Sermon’ comes across like Soundgarden was a Blues band, even adding a female backing vocal… ‘Delta’ is a great listen and at only nine tracks it will leave you wanting more.” – TheRockPit.com
“A smooth and rich rock, marinated in blues influences and flavoured with interesting arrangements… “Delta” proves to be a strong album, showing the different influences and talents of the members.” – CassetteCulture.com
“Loaded with diverse flavors including modern rock, classic rock, Southern rock, stoner rock and blues, Rubikon combines these flavors together so well that it’s almost “uncategorizable”. Obviously nods towards bands like Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Foo Fighters, and Queens of the Stone Age only adds spice to their diverse palette.” – Illinois Entertainer
“Rubikon’s sound is individualistic and different, keeping itself from being pigeonholed… “Live That Lie” is a swampy rocker that takes on a cool rock vibe at the chorus and gets the foot tapping from open to close with solid vocals, guitars, and a cool rhythm section.” – 100% Rock Magazine
Delta features progressive blues rock riffs, soaring vocals, complex harmonic structures, mile-high atmospherics and metallic outbursts. Influencing genres on Delta range from classic blues rock to hard rock and sludge metal, only further refined by mix master Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures), producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Brother Cane), and Howie Weinberg (Metallica, Nirvana), who mastered the record. Recorded in an organic, live setting at Quad Studios in Nashville, TN, the band chose to include minimal overdubs and completed the album over just two weekends.
Unlike many veteran groups that try to continuously change their sound to fit trends, Delta is a return to form – an exploration of RUBIKON’s roots, if you will. Nearing roughly fourteen years of performing and recording, the band broke out into the rock world with a pair of EPs in 2001 and 2002 before releasing their first full album, The Hollow Men, in 2004.
RUBIKON has taken this potent combination on the road countless times – touring the country and performing hundreds of shows to folks all across the nation. RUBIKON has performed with the likes of Damageplan, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Nonpoint, Nothingface, Dog Fashion Disco, and others.
